The Council's ambition is for Chorley to become one of the most attractive, caring and vibrant places in the North West to live, to work, to invest and to visit.

The character of our friendly, contemporary market town and its surrounding villages will be enhanced whilst ensuring Chorley plays a pivotal role in regional economic development.

The Council is one of the largest employers in the borough and locally renowned for offering positive terms and working conditions, including flexible working, job shares, part-time and other schemes which aim to keep our staff happy and motivated in their work. Chorley prides itself on being a great place to live, a great place to work and a great place to play.

We work on the principle that happy staff work harder for our customers - and it shows. In 2006 we received a customer services report from the Audit Commission that said we were excellent and improving in this field. We have also recently gained Investors in People status for our internal schemes and support networks for staff.
