Peterborough City Council provides local government services to more than 160,000 people in Peterborough and the surrounding villages. As a unitary authority, these services include education, social services, transportation, housing, trading standards, libraries and museums, planning, street cleansing and refuse collection.
One of Peterborough 's largest employers with over 5,500 staff and a budget of £187 million, the city council is highly ambitious. As one of the country’s key growth areas, the council is determined to embrace this challenge and raise quality across the board, ensuring the provision of excellent services for local people.
We will provide high quality services consistently to contribute to making Peterborough the place to be in the Eastern Region. Working with our partners we will seek to be an example of best practice across all sectors.
We have exciting plans for our city centre, and with the recent announcement of an urban regeneration company (URC) for Peterborough, things are set to take shape fast.
A review of our secondary schools is well underway and unprecedented levels of investment have come into our education system over the last two years.
The council is committed to building a fully representative workforce and welcomes employment applications from all age groups, all ethnic backgrounds and those with a disability. More details of the benefits of working with us are included in each job pack.
