About West Sussex County Council
A
county of contrasts, West Sussex is generally prosperous but has pockets of
deprivation in need of regeneration.
New businesses are booming in West Sussex. New companies are springing up throughout the county, and there is a growing realisation that West Sussex, with its central position, proximity to London, Gatwick Airport and Europe, and skilled workforce, is the right place to start or expand a business.
West Sussex also encompasses the cosmopolitan and urban areas of Gatwick/Crawley, Chichester, Littlehampton, Worthing, East Grinstead, and Horsham.Chichester Harbour is the biggest inland harbour in the UK with over 55 miles of coastline.
We provide a vast range of services, advice and guidance not only to the residents of West Sussex, but also to those people who pass through the County and use our services. From maintaining the local highways, being the local educational authority, providing information services, to caring for our most vulnerable residents.
But
did you also know that we also work with many other other organisations to promote
community
safety
and reduce anti-social behaviour, ensure rights of ways aren't obstructed and
help vulnerable people to live independent lives?
If you are looking for a career with us, the range of jobs undertaken at the authority is vast and offer every type of opportunity.
Jobs tend to fall into two categories. Those front line roles providing services directly to residents, such as social workers, trading standards officers, librarians, care assistants, fire control room operators and teaching assistants. Secondly, but equally important, are those which enable our front line roles to operate and which support the business of West Sussex County Council such as; ICT, legal, property, financial and HR services.
