The Waste Disposal Operations Service manages the cycle of waste collection, transfer and disposal in the Bristol domestic sector. We have a new and exciting opportunity for a flexible and committed individual to contribute to this vital service, taking responsibility for a range of necessary activities to ensure that a high quality service is provided. Site attendance will often be expected, sometimes at short notice, and participation in a standby rota may also be required (an allowance will be paid.)

Under the direction of the Waste Disposal Operations Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the management of planned and breakdown maintenance of all fixed plant and equipment (electrical, hydraulic and mechanical) engaged in waste disposal operations. You will also programme and coordinate transport allocations in support of the Council’s Waste Transfer Stations and Household Waste Recycling Centres. You will work with a variety of people, to tight deadlines and high service standards.

As a qualified engineer with excellent diagnostic, fault finding and communications skills, you will confidently manage and control contractors within budget and work to a high degree of accuracy. Your customer service skills will be second to none, and you’ll have a natural flair for good working relationships with everyone from fellow engineers to customers, suppliers and contractors.
