Principal Accountant – Financial Analysis

Working within the Financial Accounting and Analysis team – with strong links to service finance managers, other directorates and outside agencies – you will play a key role in developing the Council’s annual £1 billion budget and become the Council’s expert on Government funding for local authorities.
Managing the setting of the Council Tax and Medium Term Financial Plan, you will provide relevant information to the Head of Finance to facilitate budget planning. Moreover, in addition to leading a team responsible for advising the Council on Tax issues, you will also co-ordinate the Council’s budget, assess the impact of specific decisions, advise on funding and answer Local Authority related queries from both within and outside the Council.
To join, you should be CCAB qualified and have a good general level of education. You should also have a detailed knowledge of public sector finance and government policy, along with an awareness of management and performance issues.
