Be the first point of contact for people with learning disabilities, their families and their carers. You’ll help them access a wide range of services from a single point.

The role
With our vision of ‘Taking Pride in Improving Lives’, the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) at Wandsworth is passionately committed to meeting the challenges of the personalisation agenda. Our brand new Access and Referral Management service, based at the Joan Bicknell Centre, acts as a single point of access to the expertise of our integrated CLDT.

Part of a three-strong team, you’ll provide vital support to social workers and health colleagues by screening referrals and responding to general queries from people with learning disabilities. You’ll also have contact with a variety of organisations and social and healthcare professionals.

The person
Our service has a strong customer focus, so you must be able to deal sensitively with people, both over the phone and face to face.

You’ll need experience of direct contact with people with learning disabilities or other vulnerable groups, along with the ability to work in partnership with social workers and health professionals.

Clear and effective communication skills will be essential and you must also be ready to carry out a range of administrative duties, including the use of IT-based systems such as databases and spreadsheets.
