Location:We have several sites throughout the district e.g. Kelham Hall - HQ, Leisure Centres at Southwell, Balderton, Ollerton, Blidworth, Tourist Info Centres @ Newark and Ollerton, Museum, Castle and Theatre in Newark, Cashier’s office – Town Hall in Newark, Waste and Transport Depot and Lorry Park in Newark together with several parks and open spaces throughout Newark and District.

Newark and Sherwood District Council are looking to appoint a full time Active Lifestyles Officer who will work with other partner agencies to deliver the aims set out in the existing service level agreement. They include reducing the prevalence of obesity and other related health issues, creating and sustaining healthy living practices and supporting people to exercise whilst offering advice and support.
The post holder will hold/have:
- Health and Fitness related qualification NVQ level 3 or RSA Exercise to Music or Gym Instructor / Exercise related NVQ level 3 or equivalent
- Seated Exercise Qualification and GP Referral Course
- Emergency First Aid certificate
- IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and website design and development
- Knowledge and awareness of the barriers and potential solutions for participation in sport and physical activity for target minority groups
- The ability to prepare reports for management and partners
- A genuine interest and understanding of the health related initiatives including local and national policies and strategies to increase physical activity levels and improve wellbeing
- Experience in Falls Prevention work and working with a range of local voluntary, private and statutory organisations
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Enthusiasm, willingness and initiative to tackle a variety of tasks and work to deadlines to achieve specified objectives
- To be flexible on working hours and available to work out of hours on special events and promotions
- Ability to travel within the District
