Air Quality Management and Low Emission Zone Assessment post

Based in Lewes, East Sussex

We have a part-time vacancy within the Sussex Air Quality Partnership (Sussex-air), based at Lewes District Council in the historic County Town of Lewes. We require an enthusiastic self-motivated person with specialist technical and communication skills, to work on a DEFRA supported Sussex-wide Low Emission Zone Feasibility project.

You will:

• undertake air quality assessments and low emission zone feasibility studies for the Sussex local authorities;
• undertake emissions inventory and modelling assessments of air quality for the Sussex local authorities;
• assist on the feasibility studies for low emission zones;
• liaise with local authority officers on air quality and help develop low emission initiatives (zones) to improve air quality in hotspots across Sussex.

The position would suit an experienced local authority officer or air quality specialist with an understanding of local air quality management, geographic information systems (GIS) and experience with emission inventories and air quality modelling. We are looking for someone who is a team player with lots of energy, unflagging enthusiasm, tact and diplomacy and a commitment to environmental and service improvements.
