Can you ensure the success of our Family Solutions Team, which brings together diverse disciplines within a locality setting to prevent accommodation and facilitate the rehabilitation home of children and young people to their families?

Keeping families together wherever possible, you will lead wide-ranging operational activities and oversee multidisciplinary colleagues, whilst taking clear and considered decisions on intervention, allocation of resources, risk management and performance development.

The Family Solutions Team is a new initiative within Surrey and brings together health, education and social care disciplines. The team follows a psychosocial and attachment- based perspective and employs a variety of therapeutic skills and practical interventions to help families increase their resilience and emotional literacy, build on their strengths and commit to change.

The team will respond quickly to crises, complete an Information and Observation Assessment Period and then undertake a twelve-week intensive intervention that meets the individual needs of the family. Follow up sessions are then available to help families sustain the changes that they have made.

Alongside a professional social work qualification, you will join us with sound practical experience within statutory childcare, child protection and risk management. This will have given you broad exposure to assessments, care planning and legal proceedings, proven ability to deliver instruction and training, and impressive and inspiring leadership skills, plus deep commitment to making a difference.

An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure check will be required for this role.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Julian Gordon-Walker on 01372 833 590.

Interview date: 9 October 2008.

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
