Waste Minimisation Officer

We are a top performing council making a real difference to the lives of local people.

We are serious about recycling and reducing waste and as such over the last few years we have increased funding and resources to deliver a leading waste management service working at local and sub regional levels. This has culminated in the letting of new recycling and waste collection, treatment and disposal contracts which is on target to deliver a 60% recycling rate for this financial year.

As Waste Minimisation Officer you will be responsible for driving waste minimisation, reuse and recycling within North Somerset through working with partners, community organisations, schools and our contractors. You will look at new and innovative ways of further improving our recycling rates and will recommend and help implement the introduction of these new arrangements. In addition you will be the communications contact for the service and will work in close liaison with the Corporate Communications team. Ultimately you will play a key role in improving our services that affect absolutely everyone in our community.

You will hold a vocational qualification to level 2 NVQ literacy and numeracy or equivalent and an NVQ level 3 or 4 qualifications or equivalent to demonstrate technically specific skills relating to the appropriate area of work. In addition you should have significant experience in your field.
