Over 500,000 people in the UK have autism. Together with their families, they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. At the National Autistic Society, our vision is a world where all people living with autism get to lead the life they choose.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual able to display a sound knowledge and understanding of autism and autism specific approaches with experience of working in a senior role with people with autism.

You will be part of an existing autism specialist team providing advice on best practice approaches, person centred planning and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) expert advice to local staff teams who provide daily services to people with autism. There will also be a requirement to undertake clinical assessment work and staff training as directed by the team manager.

An NVQ or Diploma at L3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent is essential and a full UK driving licence with use of a car (mileage allowance applicable). An advanced BTec diploma in Positive Behaviour Support would be an advantage.

The post is based at our Cardiff office and will be mainly Monday to Friday (9.00 to 4.30) with an expectation to travel across the South Wales area and work some unsocial hours by prior arrangement to meet service needs, including on call responsibilities.

NAS Benefits include: Pension scheme, sick pay, 25 days’ annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, full induction and professional development opportunities for the successful candidates.

Applications are sought from all suitably qualified sections of the community but particularly welcome from those with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger syndrome.

Please note this post requires us to ask about your criminal record/s and proceed with an Enhanced Disclosure application. You will also be required to complete a pre-placement Health questionnaire.

The NAS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and adults who use our services and as such expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
