Bereavement Services Officer

Job Summary

Scale 4: £20,460 rising in annual increments to £22,422 (plus overtime and Standby Allowance) 4 positions available. There are currently three cemeteries and two crematoria operated by the London Borough of Lambeth, with significant Capital Investment being made to maintain the sensitivity and effectiveness of our service to the bereaved. Working within our Cemeteries & Crematoria team there will be ample opportunity for you to support and participate in the development of this vital service through team working and applying your initiative and motivation at one of our two offices. The task in hand will be challenging, and you will experience some unique circumstances that will stretch your knowledge, flexibility and ingenuity.Ideally you will have previous experience gained working in a cemetery/crematorium office or similar with the ability of using tact and sensitivity in your dealings with a culturally diverse community. An appreciation and awareness of the requirements of the Institute of Cemetery & Crematorium Management (ICCM) Certificate or Diploma, and the ability to undertake study in the same would be highly advantageous, as would experience of using IT software packages (MS Word, Outlook, Excel).

You will be working a 35 hour week and there is a requirement for rostered weekend working. In addition to the salary shown, all permanent posts attract access to the local government pension scheme.
