Casual Clerical Worker
Grade 2-4 – £12,787 – £16,830 (pro-rata)
The Casual Pool is intended to provide cover for absent employees (e.g. to cover for secondments or long term sickness), temporary work up to 6 months and short term projects. Successful applicants will be called upon as and when required, so the need to be flexible is essential. Applicants looking for part-time or full-time hours will be considered. Experience has shown that acquiring skills doing this type of work can lead to more permanent employment with the Council or with other employers.
You will be expected to carry out such tasks as typing/word processing, data input, mail sorting and distribution, filing, photocopying and dealing with customers, in person and on the telephone. Applicants should therefore have proven abilities in some or all of aforementioned areas.
You must be a good communicator, be able to adapt easily to varying work situations and have an understanding of the importance of customer care. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative, producing quality results, within given deadlines. You must have previous experience of working in a busy office environment and maintaining records.
