This is a senior role, responsible for whole service oversight of spend against specific service areas, focussing on value for money within commissioning spend and the performance of contracts, by value of product delivered against value of spend
You will play a critical role in working with key stakeholders to control expenditure, help to achieve social value and stimulate the local economy. You will take the lead in developing a Category Plan aligned to one of our Commissioning portfolios and in delivering the objectives and targets as identified in the Plan.
This role will offer you ample scope to use your creativity to plan and implement procurement projects that make a valuable contribution to the 3 Councils and our most vulnerable members of the community. You will work closely and collaboratively with Strategic Commissioners and other Service Managers throughout this process, as well as ensuring Supplier Relationship Managers, and Procurement officers work effectively in delivering against required priorities.
As the successful candidate you will be a full member of CIPS / working towards attaining this or have the equivalent practical experience and, ideally, previous management experience. You will have a good understanding of public sector procurement, together with a well-developed category knowledge in people orientated services. Furthermore, you will have a clear understanding of current market conditions and trends, as well as of modern innovative procurement practices, including e-tendering processes.
