We are looking for a Civil Enforcement Officer to join our existing team. You will be required to patrol the streets and car parks and to issue tickets to illegally parked vehicles. You will also provide advice to members of the public and check that parking machines and equipment are in good working order.

The successful applicant will enjoy working outside and will be someone who can deal with members of the public in a helpful and diplomatic manner. You will need to use computerised hand held equipment and a radio and understand the legal requirements of the job. Ideally applicants need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Full training will be given so previous experience in a similar role is not essential.

The posts are offered on a full time basis (36 hours per week) and your working week will include some Saturday, Sunday and early evening working. There will be an enhanced rate for Sunday working and some opportunities for overtime.

Benefits package includes 25-30 days annual leave (depending on length of Local Government Service), final salary pension scheme, flexible working hours and free use of leisure facilities.

Equal Opportunities

Hertsmere Borough Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer and we welcome applications from all members of the community. We are actively pursuing equality of opportunity in employment and oppose all forms of discrimination. Every individual will be treated equally and fairly and decisions on recruitment, training, promotion and career development will be based solely on objective job-related criteria.

All shortlisting and interviews will be thorough, conducted on an objective basis and will deal only with the applicant’s suitability for the job and ability to fulfill the requirements of the post. In no cases will assumptions be made about a person’s personal and domestic circumstances or plans. Where the requirements of the job may affect the candidate’s personal life (e.g. working unsocial hours) this will be discussed with all candidates.
