Location:Shared Services Department, 1st Floor, Sandyford Campus, Sandyford Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. 

The Learning Support Service prides itself on the outstanding support and service we offer to learners who are D/deaf and hard of hearing. We are looking to employ enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals as Communication Support Workers. The role will include supporting and facilitating learning for learners who are D/deaf and hard of hearing. The role involves providing a variety of support methods including: one to one support, group support, study skills support and note-taking.

You must be qualified to a minimum of British Sign Language Level 2, have Deaf awareness training and good note-taking skills. You need to be able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills and an understanding of the potential barriers around disability.

It is desirable but not essential that you have had experience of working in an educational setting or similar.
