Location:SW9 9QT 

We are currently recruiting a Community Centre Coordinator who will be responsible for the operation of the community centre working towards agreed plans and budgets. An integral part of this role will be to develop plans which will maximise the usage of the centre.
The successful candidate will be based in Brixton and will ensure the smooth running of the centre. You will be responsible for involving volunteers and customers in developing the centre while keeping accurate administrative and financial records and promoting community use of the centre.

The most challenging aspects of the role will to manage the centres performance and success accordingly. For example, the more successful the service is, the more complex it will be to run; residents do not always agree with each other, and will need you to be flexible in your approach. You will also be required to manage cleaning and maintenance issues.

Essential Criteria:

• Have experience of working in community centres/ premises
• Have experience of managing resident-led groups and volunteers
• Have basic understanding of why community centres are important to Metropolitan
• Show successful innovation in delivering services
• Have knowledge of admin, finance and health and safety systems

Desirable Criteria:

• Be well-organised self-starter with excellent written and inter-personal skills
• Exhibit a commitment to developing communities and volunteers
• Have some experience of working in community buildings
• Have a general understanding of why housing associations invest in community centres
