Location:Sure Start Barkerend Children’s Centre. 

Children’s Services

Sure Start Barkerend Children’s Centre is an established Children’s Centre in the heart of the BD3 area. The Centre works in partnership with a range of other service providers to meet the needs of families with young children aged 0-5 years, offering services including, family support and parental outreach, childcare and education and child and family health services.

Sure Start Barkerend is one of 3 Children’s Centres which are part of a pilot programme which aims to encourage take up of childcare among Black and Minority Ethnic Families with children under five years.

We are seeking two workers to encourage families to engage in childcare services offered in the locality.

The Community Engagement workers will work out in local community settings, in schools, the family’s homes and within the Children’s Centre, helping parents to access the relevant services.

You must have

  • At least one years experience of work paid or unpaid with parents/carers and children.
  • At least one year’s experience of working with Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
  • Experience of dealing with and supporting parents and carers of young children
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in the relevant field.

An enhanced disclosure check with the Criminal records Bureau will be undertaken for this post
