Initial one year contract, with potential for extension dependent on funding.

North Somerset Council is launching its exciting and innovative Play Development Project. This will potentially run for three years and will offer free open space activities to children and young people in play pod areas in North Somerset. We are now looking at appointing a team of 6 part-time Community Play Development Workers to work with the Lead Community Play Development Worker in delivering the project. The post holders will be responsible for the delivery of outdoor play activities including consultation with the local children and young people to ensure we are meeting their play requirements. Additional responsibilities will include community development and monitoring and evaluating the success of the project.

We are looking for someone with NVQ Level 2 in Playwork or equivalent qualification in Youth or Community work and experience of working face to face with children and young people. It is essential that you are willing to work in all weathers and some weekends.

Play sessions will be delivered outside of school hours all year round, with potentially one session held at the weekends. Exact times will be agreed with the post holder.

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
