Here in Crawley, we see the safety and well-being of our residents, workers and visitors as paramount. Therefore, we supplement the Police service and Police Community Support Officers with our own Community Wardens, adding an additional layer of security, ensuring people feel safer on our streets.

If you’ve got what it takes to confidently and assertively reduce the fear of crime and reassure the public, you’ll enjoy a role that offers valuable experience and a competitive salary and benefits package.

Patrolling public areas, you’ll report on a variety of anti-social behaviours, community concerns and misdemeanours. This will include liaising with individuals and the community and issuing fixed penalty notices, while also taking part in court proceedings and community clean-up events.

Perhaps you are looking to step down from a career in the forces or get a taste of what working with the police might be like. Whatever your motivation or experience, we can give you full training and support from the beginning. A uniform will also be supplied. Excellent communication skills, cash-handling experience, ability to perform physically demanding tasks and a current driving licence are all essential.

You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays as a regular part of this post. In return, you can look forward to an attractive salary, excellent working conditions, job share option, nursery facility for children aged 2-5 years (subject to availability), as well as final salary pension scheme. In promoting equalities, the Council welcomes applications from all sections of the community. This post will be subject to satisfactory clearance of both Criminal
Records checks and the Sussex Police Vetting Procedure.
