Waltham Forest is at the forefront of regeneration with a range of exciting opportunities for positive and sustainable change currently being delivered across the borough. We are also an Olympics borough with regeneration a key priority for the Council. In addition to seeking to maximise the opportunities presented by the Games and the Olympic legacy, we are developing Area Action Plans in a number of areas and work closely with developers and partners in bringing forward proposals on a range of key sites.
Waltham Forest is proud of its built heritage and the value that conservation can play in both celebrating the past and informing the future. We have over 100 listed buildings, 11 conservation areas and a number of other important local heritage assets in the borough where ongoing management, advice and guidance is required.
You will be an experienced and dedicated conservation professional with a strong awareness and detailed understanding of conservation and urban design principles, policy and practice and their practical application. You will have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to present ideas and proposals effectively, with substantial experience of providing conservation advice to officers, councillors, developers and the public.
In addition, you will have a good understanding of broader regeneration issues within an urban environment and the role that conservation can play in delivering high quality design and development. You will work closely with planning and regeneration colleagues, as well as other relevant disciplines, and have a strong commitment to working with local people in raising awareness of good design and conservation.

Equal Opportunities
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population.
We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace.
The Council is committed to meeting its 4 strategic outcomes contained in its Corporate Equality Plan:
• Promoting equality of opportunity
• Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage
• Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels
• Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent services to all.
Respecting Diversity is a core Council value.
