About the role

Camden is an innovative and dynamic council. Our staff are responsible for a huge range of services for the people who live and work here. You will lead staff communications to make sure everyone who works here knows and understands our priorities. You will create a compelling narrative for staff and have an excellent understanding of how to communicate with a diverse workforce. The role is maternity cover for one year.

As lead for internal communications, you will provide strategic advice, strategy and planning for all internal communications to support Chief Executive communications and engagement with staff, strategic priorities and organisation development, and you will be the main link with senior HR colleagues. You will work closely with the Core Communications Lead (Channel) to deliver innovative and effective internal communications, to make sure a channel framework for staff is in place including digital, and to lead on internal channel governance, measurement and quality assurance for internal communications.

You will have:
• Strong writing skills, ideas and creativity, and the ability to provide strategic communications advice to senior officers
• Excellent understanding of internal communications channels
• Experience of delivering targeted, evidence-based and evaluated communications

About you
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have relevant equivalent work experience. You will have a wide range of working knowledge in various communications channels including digital, media and marketing skills. You will have a proven track record delivering evidence based internal communications campaigns and evaluation. You will also have strong account management and project management skills coupled with budget management experience. You will have provided strategic advice to board level, senior officers and elected members to achieve desired outcomes and have experience in dealing with crisis communications.

You will be skilled at planning, delivering and evaluating high quality communications and engagement strategies and will use your excellent writing skills to deliver engaging copy about Camden’s priorities tailored to a wide range of audiences.
