Corporate Strategy is a key business area responsible for a range of procurement, policy and support activities at Woking Borough Council. A top priority is to ensure the Council gets the best value and service from its range of contracts with a diverse range of suppliers.

We are looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to work in a small team to ensure that the Council’s supplier relations are delivering the best possible outcomes for citizens. The successful candidate will be a point of contact for suppliers and Council officials for particular contracts, initially the provision of the Council’s Housing Service, requiring a high level of professionalism. The post holder will also provide support and coordination for specific procurement activities. The role provides an exciting opportunity to deliver savings, efficiencies and process improvements in the area of procurement.

Tasks will include research and data collection to support contract reviews, supplier negotiations and development of procurement related policy. The postholder will be responsible for monitoring, updating and reporting contract performance information to a high level of detail and accuracy. The job will require arranging and participation in meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills will be needed to resolve any contract issues and to enable continuous improvement across the Council’s contracts.
