This exciting new role will play a full part in the Authority’s corporate management by being a proactive member of the Strategic Management Team working with colleagues, the Chief Executive and both Strategic Directors. Your role will be to contribute to the collective leadership, development and management of the organisation and although corporate in nature, you will also co-ordinate the effective provision of our planning service which includes economic development, building control, development control, planning policy, conservation and land charges. Although we are not looking for particular professional skills, you should have some affinity to the suite of services to be managed.
This will provide the ideal opportunity for a candidate aiming to be a Director within 3 years and we welcome applications from those who have strong corporate awareness and are committed to a ‘one team approach’. In addition to maintaining quality services, many of which are in the top quartile, the authority is embarking on a comprehensive change programme including business re-engineering and introduction of a customer service centre. There would be plenty of opportunity to get involved with cross authority projects such as developing the equalities programme or taking forward project management.
