Democratic Support Officer

Hours:37 hours per week, a flexible working hours scheme is in operation.

The Council is looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to join the team which supports Councillors and services the Council’s Cabinet, Committees and Partnerships.

You will be responsible for organising and attending meetings, including the preparation of agendas, minutes and reports. With a busy workload you must be an organised and capable self-starter, able to work on your own initiative and prioritise work in order to cope with tight deadlines.

The post holder may be required to attend occasional evening meetings at a number of locations across the district.

You must be able to show an ability to establish good working relationships with Members and Council Officers and the ability to provide a professional service to the public is essential. You will be an experienced IT user with an excellent command of written English, as well as a good communicator. Experience of servicing meetings preferably within the public sector and knowledge of local government would be an advantage.

Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Applicants should have at least 2 ‘A’ levels, or equivalent qualifications or experiance and ideally a degree or BTEC HNC in Public Administration/ Business and Finance or equivalent.
