About the job

Children’s services in Hillingdon have undergone a significant transformation. “The Children’s Pathway Programme” is the council’s vehicle for change in children’s services. Our children’s services transformation work aims to deliver a more effective and efficient service with a real focus on high quality social work practice.

The team provides corporate parenting and permanency services to all children (including asylum children & young people) who are remaining in care and / or are subject to care proceedings and works in partnership with families to decide upon the best permanency option for all children in care.

About the person

This is your opportunity to excel in a challenging yet highly rewarding management role. Responsible for managing up to seven social workers, you’ll provide essential supervision and guidance. Developing your team, you’ll support staff in the timely progression of appropriate plans to safeguard children, have management responsibility of complex cases and monitor workload – to ensure the highest standards are being met. You will also work closely with the Team Manager to inform the business planning and setting of team targets. Hillingdon is a diverse and multi-cultural borough and as a Deputy Team Manager you should be aware of the potential discriminatory issues facing the children of our community. A confident and encouraging communicator you’ll feel comfortable chairing child-centred meetings and deputising for the Team Manager.
