Development Management Team Leader
Fancy Making a Difference?
Shepway is where the green hills of the Kent North Downs meet the sea.
It is where traditional architecture rubs shoulders with high-quality contemporary design.
It is less than an hour away from London on High Speed 1 and house prices are among the most reasonable in the South East.
It is a fantastic place to work, live and visit and there are a number of truly exciting redevelopment plans for thousands of new homes, including at Folkestone seafront and the local army garrison. In addition to excellent relationships with the private sector, we are working closely with a number of Government departments to maximise investment opportunities in large scale infrastructure and housing.
We are based in Folkestone but have a flexible style of working. The Council’s team is high performing and has an exciting challenging agenda for further housing and employment growth, while enhancing the unique qualities of our settlements, countryside and coastline.
In September 2013 Shepway adopted its Core Strategy Local Plan and is now developing a Places and Policies Local Plan to allocate small and medium sized sites and provide a new suite of contemporary Development Management policies, scheduled for submission in Summer 2017.
Alongside this the Council has invested significantly in additional resources in order to undertake a partial review of its Core Strategy to plan for longer term strategic development.
In November 2016 the Government announced its support for the development of a new settlement of up to 12,000 homes within the District. More information on this can be found at http://www.shepway.gov.uk/otterpool-park
If you fancy working here and being a part of the exciting changes ahead, perhaps you’d like to come and work for us.
We are based in Folkestone, Kent, cover a district of 140 square miles and serve a population of 108,000. You’ll share our ambitions to support regeneration and sustainable development as well as preserve and enhance our district’s heritage.
You’ll work within our Development Management team of Planning Services and have specific responsibility for managing officers dealing with planning applications and enforcement cases, for a variety of proposed developments around the district. You will also have a small caseload of your own of more complex and major applications. This is seen as a key role that will help us deliver key corporate plan objectives.
For an informal discussion please call Ben Geering, Head of Planning on 01303 853457 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
