The post of Employment Development Officer is a new vacancy created to support our Worklessness Strategy to improve work and training opportunities for residents living in social housing and assist their oath to participation in the wider community. The successful post holder will work closely with out Sports and Wellbeing officers to ensure our engagement programme links residents to opportunities. The successful applicant will possess a commitment to working with some of the most disadvantages and hardest to reach members of out communities. We are looking for someone with knowledge of current employment and training initiatives, able to develop new partnerships and an ability to maximise funding available and generate external funding to create new opportunities.
The essential criterion for this position is:
• Demonstrable experience in delivery role for skills, employment, training and
worklessness work.
• Relevant degree in social policy, regeneration, economics, or equivalent mix of
qualifications and experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of the current local and national developments in
the employment/welfare reform agendas.
• Demonstrable success working with diverse resident groups to carry out
community projects at this scale.
• Demonstrable experience implementing innovative and successful community
projects that meet residents’ needs with positive outcomes and outputs.
• Experience of securing small grants for community projects.
• Evidence of strong relationships with delivery and funding partners in at least
one of the key geographic regions.
• Experience monitoring and evaluating projects.
Please note the purpose and nature of the post will require working with residents and other agencies out of normal office hours and will include some weekend working. This position represents the opportunity for a person with the right blend of technical and personal skills to join us at an extremely exciting stage of our development.

Location: Clapham Common and other MHP Offices in London, the Midlands and Cambridge.
