About the role
We are currently looking for an Enterprise Architect to help define and evolve the Enterprise Architecture within Shared Digital to support our partner council’s corporate and technology strategies. You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of the technology strategies, roadmaps and investment plans. You will also lead on governance tasks as a key member of the architecture review boards. As a principle subject matter expert, you will direct the work (and mentor), a team of Solution Architects delivering core and strategic ICT projects.
You will need to develop an architecture community of practice to build and share knowledge. You will be responsible for developing consistent working practices amongst architecture domain specialists, based on core architectural principles, with supporting patterns and standards. The role is a fixed term contract to support the Shared Digital architecture team during a transitional period to a new organisational structure. The role requires a handover period with the current post holder, so immediate availability is essential.
To be successful, you’ll be educated to degree level with a degree in computer science / technology or you’ll have demonstrable work delivered to a degree level standard. You’ll need extensive experience of capturing as-is architectures, defining to-be architectures, and communicating the roadmaps and transition plans between them.
You’ll also need experience of solution design and a detailed working knowledge of IT infrastructure including servers, storage, databases, networking, applications and security within an Enterprise Architecture context. You will be experienced at structuring and interpreting a problem, guiding the scope and solution towards delivering business results, working with stakeholders to influence adoption of the best architectural approach.
You will have experience of leading and mentoring teams of technical specialists, motivating them to deliver to challenging deadlines, whilst maintaining high levels of quality and consistency in their work.A thorough understanding of the information lifecycle and familiarity with the security standards and relevant legislation is also a must. We’re looking for someone with an up-to-date architecture best practice knowledge and understanding ideally including TOGAF (or equivalent ICT architect qualifications) and experience of Agile (iterative) project methodologies.
