Pendle is an attractive semi-rural Borough of small industrial towns set in attractive countryside and borders the Pennines. It contains part of the Forest of Bowland, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
As part of the East Lancashire Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, our objective is the regeneration of one of the most fascinating, varied and beautiful regions in the UK. Improving the private housing stock is a key factor in achieving this aim.
With good interpersonal skills, you will undertake the implementation of the Empty Property Strategy and assist in the development of innovative tools for bringing about the reoccupation of empty homes. You will liaise with officers from neighbouring authorities to develop a regional approach towards reoccupying empty homes. You will be based in the Housing Standards team who undertake the full range of housing duties including the enforcement of housing standards, neighbourhood renewal assessments clearance, and investigation of harassment and illegal eviction of private tenants, landlord accreditation and licensing.
Applications are welcome from people who have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health and have gained EHRB registration or graduates who are to complete professional examinations/log book/ELP and gain EHRB registration within the next six months. Please note until registration is obtained, applicants would be employed as a Housing Technical Officer on Scale 6 (£21,411 – £22,845 pay award pending). You must also possess a current valid driving licence and have the use of a vehicle insured for business purposes.
For an informal discussion, please contact Paul Lloyd, Housing Standards Manager on 01282 661029 or email: paul.lloyd@pendle.gov.uk.
