Finance Manager – Transformation Programme -18 month contract with possible extension

At Havering Council, we’re making our services even more effective and efficient by transforming the way we work. At the heart of this change is our new Transformation Team. Combine your financial management experience with a track record of delivering change, and you could join this influential team in a newly created and wholly challenging role.

Reporting to our Head of Financial Services, you’ll take the lead financial role on the corporate transformation programme, contributing to its management and delivery. We’ll look to you to work with the Team and service managers to identify financial efficiencies – and put practical frameworks in place to achieve them. Whether providing professional advice, monitoring budgets or ensuring business cases are robust, you’ll work to get results that the people of Havering will benefit from noticeably.

While it’s not essential that you’re from a public sector background, it’s vital that you have substantial, relevant financial management experience within a large complex organisation.

What’s more, your proven skills in financial planning and accounting must be combined with a full CCAB qualification – and a thorough understanding of change management.

Naturally, you’ll be at an advantage with an understanding of the local government political process. However, more important will be your ability to communicate, lead and inspire change in others.
