Financial Inclusion Team Leader
Fixed Term/Secondment contract for 18 Months

Hackney Council is looking for someone who understands the issue of financial inclusion to support our residents. You will be working with some of our most vulnerable communities to mitigate the impact of welfare reform, including the on-going expansion of Universal Credit. This is an important part of our work to make Hackney a place for everyone.
As Financial Inclusion Team Leader, you will help maximise income by making sure Hackney’s residents have access to effective financial advice. You will work in partnership with other organisations to raise awareness and improve access to financial services and training.
Day to day your team will deliver effective debt counselling, budgeting and benefits advice. You will be working to help residents meet their financial commitments and manage their money effectively. You will work pro-actively with our income service teams and others to help residents reduce debt and increase financial capability.
You should be willing to seek out holistic solutions to support tenants. Responding to the impact of welfare reform and other legislative changes that can impact household incomes. Your team will be working in partnership with other Council services and external agencies.
This is a new role and your work will involve line managing a small team, leading and shaping the service offer and providing effective performance management. You should have experience working within a social housing setting and understand the needs of those facing financial exclusion.
To thrive in this role you should be able to use your own initiative. You should bring a strategic approach to the work while dealing with complex workload cases. You should be methodical and organised and able to communicate effectively with our diverse communities.
