An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Information Governance and Compliance Team to assist and guide the Council with compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, Environmental Information Regulations and other information rights legislation and regulations.
You will need strong organisation and excellent communication skills, and be prepared to acquire the specialist knowledge, and an in-depth understanding of the FoIA and DPA, to help resolve the council’s responses to FoIA enquiries and Data Protection issues, to advise and guide officers and develop appropriate procedures for our services. You will also need the experience to apply this specialism to the wide range of services delivered by a Unitary Authority, all of which are subject to FoIA enquiries and many of which handle the most confidential and sensitive of personal information. After gaining suitable qualifications and experience, you will make a significant contribution to council information policies and procedures and will assist in their implementation.
You will work well as part of a small, integrated team which includes officers specialising in Computer Audit, Information Security, Records Management, and Systems Administration, and will be motivated, enthusiastic and able to determine your own priorities.
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Peter Rooney, Head of Audit, Risk and Information, on 01934 427 394.
