Recovery Focus is a new group of expert charities with the shared aim to inspire individual recovery nationwide. Between us we have a track record of more than 200 years of developing and running personalised services that work with people with mental health, substance misuse and other complex needs to achieve their ambitions. Each partner organisation has its own rich history of success, but together we believe we can lead the way in evidence-based recovery pathways, tailored to meet local and individual needs.
Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, is looking for a Fundraising and Events Officer to join the team at The Old Moat Garden Centre in Epsom. The centre provides retail and horticultural services to the public and work experience and accredited training opportunities to adults with mental health problems. As part of a plan to move away from our current funding arrangement, we want to put in place a strategy for transition to a fully sustainable community social enterprise, in which income is wholly generated by commercial sales and voluntary donations. We also plan to increase the size of our café, retail and car park areas. But, it will only be possible with the help of people like you.
Join us, and you could soon be responsible for researching funding opportunities and writing grant applications to charitable trusts and statutory bodies and building relationships with major donors and companies. We’ll also rely on you to devise and organise fundraising campaigns and events and raise awareness of the work we do at every opportunity. Capturing positive media coverage relating to our work and sharing news stories with our central Communications and Marketing team will be important too. And, when it comes to maintaining records, managing performance monitoring or helping the centre’s Team Leader manage a budget and ensure targets are met, again, we’ll count on you.
To be a success, you’ll need the communication skills it takes to liaise with a wide range of people and organisations and the creative flair to present materials in an effective way. Experience of using social media in a professional capacity is important too, as is the ability to organise, prioritise and manage a challenging workload. Comfortable working within a team and flexible about working hours, you love using your initiative and are reliable and trustworthy when handling confidential information.
