Parks and Open Spaces Operations

This section looks after the maintenance of Parks and Open Spaces, Highway Verges, Housing sites and Schools throughout the Borough.

With experience in gardening or sports turf, you will be able to undertake a wide range of horticultural tasks, ie. grass cutting, weeding, hedge trimming, planting, pruning and clearing leaves and litter.

Knowledge of sports maintenance would be an advantage, ie. setting out and marking sports areas and pitches, over marking pitches, seeding and constructing and dismantling of sports and other equipment. You will be required to undertake PA1/PA6A Pesticide training and take the NPTC test and achieve the Certificate in the Use of Pesticides.

The working hours for this post vary to reflect the seasonal nature of the job but average out through the year to 36 hours a week. A quality payment is currently paid in addition to the salary stated however, not during periods of sickness or in situations where work is deemed below acceptable standard.

You must be punctual, reliable, able to carry out manual work and willing to work outside in all types of weather.
