Our Environmental Services division is influential in enhancing and protecting the District’s many green spaces.

The Parks and Open Spaces team are responsible for developing and managing the Council’s public open spaces, play sites, highway verges, Tree Preservation Orders and providing Landscape advice to Development Control.

This is an administrative and technical role to provide an all round support service to the professional officers who work as part of the Parks & Open Spaces team but the post holder will be expected to take responsibility and work on their own initiative.

Essential skills for this role are to:-

  • Prepare and analyse data and budgets to support the smooth running of the service
  • Demonstrate good administrative and numeracy skills as well as having a real understanding of customer care.
  • Have the ability to handle and resolve queries and complaints from members of the public, businesses and grounds maintenance contractors

Excellent IT skills are a must to include a good working knowledge of Microsoft office and databases

Unique skills such as experience of using Geographical Information Systems and the ability to understand changes in technology and legislation for Parks & Open Spaces and Landscape services would also be useful.

A knowledge and interest in Grounds Maintenance matters would be an advantage.
