Head of Economic Development and Leisure

Horsham District is consistently ranked as one of the best places in the country to live and work. We are responsible for over 200 square miles of outstandingly beautiful countryside, including the new South Downs National Park. As well as Horsham town the district has many attractive, prosperous and vibrant towns and villages which are within easy reach of London, Gatwick Airport and the South Coast.

As one of seven Heads of Service, this is a key role responsible for leading and driving forward the Economic Development and Leisure Service. We are looking for someone who is driven and creative, with a strong approach to securing the best outcomes for our residents and businesses.

This is a very exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Corporate Management Team and ensure our services are delivered to excellent customer standards, whilst driving cost efficiency in a challenging financial climate.

Key areas of the economic development function will be to enable and support economic growth, maximise employment opportunities, secure external funding to deliver local initiatives, develop a visitor economy and sustain the economic viability of our towns and villages.

Key leisure areas include services which support Arts, Heritage, Culture and Sport. In 2012 we will be implementing a new Leisure Management Contract and seeking innovative ways in which we can maximise our leisure offer. A number of high profile projects and programmes will be undertaken in order to deliver this.
