Driving forward change – Transformation is on our agenda, what is on yours?

Surrey Heath is a forward-looking Council looking at significant change. The Council is progressing a complete review of its Senior Management structure and this new post will play a key part in continuing the Council’s evolution. Transformation is the key issue for the next few years, with employee relations, procurement and major capital projects likely to be high on the agenda of the legal services team. As a key member of the Management Board, you will report directly to the Chief Executive. You will be expected to provide high-quality legal advice, supporting both officers and elected members, and will use your expertise to find innovative and creative solutions to complex issues. As the Council’s Monitoring Officer, you will be responsible for promoting good governance reflecting and developing a local ethical culture supporting the Localism Act. The successful candidate will be politically aware and will be able to combine a successful track-record in legal services with strategic corporate direction. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and develop positive relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners are pivotal to success in this role.
