The children, young people, staff and governors invite you to apply to become our Head Teacher of the John F Kennedy School which is in the dynamic London Borough of Newham. Our school for pupils 2-16 yrs is within walking distance of the 2012 Olympic site in Stratford. The Post 16 provision is in Beckton which is in the south of the borough. The school had an OFSTED inspection in October 2008 and was found to be ‘Good’ with areas that were ‘Outstanding’. Plans are being made for both sites to be partly rebuilt and this will start in ……………

We would expect the successful candidate to –

•Have the knowledge and experience of managing and working with children and young people with profound, complex, medical, communication, sensory, and challenging needs including ASC. To use this knowledge to promote and support our pupils and Post 16 students, and their families, within a positive, richly diverse, multi cultural, inner city community.

•Build on the considerable success achieved at the last OFSTED Inspection and to have the vision to take the school from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding.

•Have the tenacity to work with the BSF programme, across two sites. To lead an enthusiastic team in creating an exciting teaching and learning environment with a ‘new’ curriculum which, is challenging and versatile, with immense possibilities for the future.

•Demonstrate the ability to manage the complexities that exist when managing an establishment which operates on two sites.

•Extend our successful inclusive support programme which exists with mainstream nurseries/schools and provisions, ensuring that we continue on our path to becoming a ‘Centre of Excellence’.

•Develop the positive relationships that exist with the many agencies who work within and for our school and Post 16 i.e. paediatric and adult services etc.

If this sounds exciting and you have these skills, please come and meet us.
