TERM TIME + 4 WEEKS / 37 HOUR WEEK (WITH SOME EVENINGS BY ARRANGEMENT)
Required for September 2012 (or as soon as possible thereafter); a dedicated and customer-focused individual for the position of Information Centre Manager. This position has a particular emphasis on customer service and will include:
- Connecting students with library, local, community and national information, resources and services
- Use of automated information systems, databases and other technology for a range of processing and service tasks
- Use of the Library Management System
- Maintain collections using established procedures and systems
- Promote the development of reading and literacy skills for information and recreation and take a lead in creating a whole-school environment which encourages reading for pleasure
- Manage a study environment for both curriculum-based and independent learning. This involves the management and integration of both physical areas and virtual learning environments to create positive learning spaces
- Manage and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats, traditional and electronic, and where appropriate, the equipment to access them
- The ability to provide direct services to students and staff from the Academy as well as from external agencies
- Assist with other Academy activities and promotion
Applicants must have relevant customer service experience; although a library qualification is not essential. They will have a good general knowledge with an interest in teaching and learning, study skills, reading and current affairs. You will have:
- The ability to motivate and inspire students and stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment in studying, information retrieval and reading
- Creative problem solving skills and a professional approach
- High expectations of students and the determination to help raise student achievement
- Team skills and a desire to make a difference for all users of the Information Centre
