Role Purpose Tower Hamlets’ Communications andMarketing Service is seeking to appoint an Internal Communications Manager on afull-time basis. This is one of the most excitingcommunications roles in local government. The council is undergoing a majortransformation with Communications and Marketing Service at the heart of itsnew approach. We need a first class communicatorto ensure our 5,000 staff members are informed, involved and can help shape thefuture of our service. Tower Hamlets offers the best ofLondon in one borough, combining major economic centres including Canary Wharfand City Fringe; destinations such as the Tower of London and Brick Lane; andone the country’s most diverse and culturally rich populations. The post holder will be expected to: * To lead the internal communication team to ensure a high quality, comprehensive service is provided across the council including all of its sites. * To deliver our internal communications strategy which will ensure that our employees feel informed, involved and can shape the future of the council. * To oversee, introduce and stimulate two way and wider communications with and between staff that can be measured and evaluated. * To create and deliver effective and measurable campaigns. * To be a key adviser senior officers and members * To innovate and introduce new ways of working to constantly improve our offer. Key Responsibilities The post holder will be responsible forthe strategic planning of internal communications. This includes thedevelopment and use of communications infrastructure to the best effect,managing the content for our communications channels, and introducing new channelswhere appropriate. You will also know our audienceincluding the profile of our staff as well as their sentiment. The post holder is expected to formexcellent working relationships with relevant departments to help drive changein the organisation and ensure that staff share our vision, are informed andhave a voice, whilst planning anddelivering effective campaigns which are be measured to show effective results. Requirements You will have an excellent understanding and experience of deliveringinternal communications for a large organisation. You will be experienced in delivering effective campaigns acrossorganisations and measuring their results. You will be experienced in working with senior managers and managers.Strong partnership working and the ability to assess complex issues areessential.
