We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Learning & Development Manager to join Macmillan Cancer Support based in London. The purpose of the role will be to design and implement strategies that align the development and support we give to people affected by cancer with our Corporate strategy. The role will focus on developing the confidence and well being of people affected by cancer and enabling them to improve the quality of their lives. The role will also develop supportive learning interventions for our volunteers and our partners so that we can deliver cost-effective person-centred solutions for all.
The position requires the ability to manage a small team of Learning and Development coordinators within our fast-paced Learning and Development department. You’ll blend thought leadership with the ability to structure issues in ambiguous or complex situations and support delivery within a regional context. In the process you’ll make sure that the right frameworks, processes, interventions and resources exist to develop and support people affected by cancer. You’ll provide innovative L&D / OD expertise on organisation-wide L&D projects and work with our regions and nations to deliver and measure our impact.
You’ll be an experienced L&D manager with some OD and change experience, comfortable working with ambiguity and with proven ability in the areas of relationship building. Ideally, you will have experience and understanding of the health and social care sectors that will have given you a strong knowledge base of organisations and business principles, as well as a person-centred focus. We are looking for someone with excellent diagnostic skills and a whole system perspective – including knowledge of assessing ROI and reshaping traditional L&D to a broader, deeper and more engaging model. Whilst some delivery may feature as part of the role we are not seeking a pure training practitioner.
A practical pragmatist, you’ll need to be able to manage a broad portfolio of changing activities and a significant budget. Equally important will be your ability to create a good personal relationship with colleagues at all levels, to encourage feedback and the generation of ideas. You’ll need to demonstrate that you have worked successfully with users and partnership bodies to design, develop and commission learning and development interventions that meet diverse and changing needs.
As you can see, we put learning and development at the heart of everything we do so we won’t just appreciate your skills, experience and commitment, but build on them through our own commitment to actively develop you. We also offer a range of benefits including BUPA, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, generous annual leave, and interest free loans for season tickets and gym membership.
