If you are interested in promoting reading to a wide range of people from all ethnic and educational backgrounds, our very busy prison library can be an exciting place to work.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with individuals from all ethnic and educational backgrounds to improve reading skills and interests. Your duties will include manning the issue desk, answering enquiries and co-ordinating the duties of prisoners working in library, all the time adhering to prison security rules.
Combining infinite patience with strict attention to detail, you must be able to work under pressure and enjoy working with people, especially with library users who can be very demanding. Preferably with library experience and used to working in a people-focused environment, you’ll also need to be computer literate and competent in routine office procedures.
An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure check will be required for this role.
