Guildford is one of the most economically competitive towns in the Country, set in the beautiful Surrey countryside and ideally connected to major transport routes. We have a highly skilled workforce, very successful further and higher educational establishments and a world leading research park.
Here at the Council we actively support our dynamic economy and have established a dedicated business and tourism team to make a lasting difference to our residents, visitors and businesses. We are looking for someone with a proven track record in managing and delivering a broad and demanding long term economic development programme. Together with the only full time tourist information centre in Surrey, you will manage enthusiastic and highly capable people, demonstrate excellent budgeting and financial management and performance monitoring.
You will work closely with the Head of Economic Development, councillors and other external organisations to deliver the Economy Strategy http://www.guildford.gov.uk/economicstrategy and delivery plan.
You will have extensive knowledge and successful experience in economic development projects, building close and effective relationships with the business sector and a strong understanding of local, national and global economic issues and factors. You will be able to exercise excellent judgement, clear appreciation of competing demands and priorities and be willing to lead your team.
Guildford also recognises the value and potential of its significant rural economy and you will continue to build on the strong partnerships that currently exist, including the newly formed Visit Surrey initiative.
In return we will offer you a generous annual leave entitlement, final salary pension scheme and pleasant working environment.
