Based at our head office near London Bridge, this full time role is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK’s best known charities to ensure the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant are applied in practice at Local Authority level. Reporting to the Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager, this role will work in collaboration with colleagues from across the organisation, you help give the Legion an even more visible and vocal presence and maximise our influence in this increasingly important area of decision-making affecting the whole Armed Forces family.
Principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Monitoring, briefing and advising colleagues on relevant political developments and the activities of Local Authorities as they affect our beneficiaries.
- Supporting the Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager in the development and implementation of a Local Government campaigns and engagement strategy.
- Developing, and leading on the implementation of, a programme of events to maximise awareness of the Legion’s work and its campaigning objectives and of Community Covenants and the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant.
- Identifying and exploiting opportunities to secure campaign objectives
You will have a track record of delivering tangible campaign outcomes and excellent knowledge and experience of the Local Government public affairs environment. A proven ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate written material and excellent communication skills are essential. A politics or degree or equivalent would be desirable.
