Having made two appointments, we require a third person with vision, flare, passion and a strong commitment to helping young people create better life chances for themselves.

Are you interested in working for a dynamic Children’s Services Authority, one that is recognised nationally as delivering innovative approaches in its work with young people, families and communities?

If so, this is the chance to join our team.

From April 2008, multi-disciplinary teams (including Youth Workers, Connexions Personal Advisers and workers focussing on preventing offending behaviour) were developed and based in each of three locality areas in Blackpool to deliver youth support services. As a Locality Manager you will have responsibility for South Locality in Blackpool with a rare opportunity to develop a brand new team and a new approach to integrated working.

Significant achievements are already being made through reductions in teenage conception rates, young people engaging in positive activities, reductions in young people Not in Education, Employment Training (NEET), Council of the Year award 2006 for involving young people, delivering a universal Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) offer and national recognition for our substance misuse service.

However, we want to take our services to the next level – so over to you!

For an informal discussion, please contact Bernard Booth, Assistant Head of Integrated Youth Services (PYO) on 01253 476573 or Mike Taplin, Head of Integrated Youth Services on 01253 476738.

Blackpool Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to satisfactory references, CRB and medical clearances and proof of legal working in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

If you have not been contacted within three weeks of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.

All Local Authorities are required to undertake a pay and grading review. This post will be subject to Job Evaluation and the pay and grade may increase or decrease as a result. A full current driving licence is essential to meet the requirements of this post. Applicants who are covered by DDA will be considered on an individual basis where reasonable adjustments can be made.

Blackpool welcomes applications from all of the community.
