Shenstone is the Direct Labour Organisation division of Genesis Housing.

The business carries out the planned and responsive repairs and maintenance for Genesis’ housing stock of 32,000 homes throughout the South East, and also provides services to external clients.

Last year alone, Shenstone carried out of 50,000 repair requests. The upkeep and swift repair to the homes of residents is a major priority for Genesis, and the repairs service is one of the most important areas for the organisation.

The Shenstone business has recently been reorganised to improve its performance. It now in a position to recruit a number of key people.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance and Repairs Supervisor to manage a team of up to 10 multi-trade operatives tasked with carrying out day to day repairs, planned work (including voids) and 24hr emergencies from the initial stages of planning to delivery and completion. The Official internal title of the role is Quality Inspector as the clear focus of Genesis is to provide consistently excellent service to customers. You will have direct accountability for the quality of your team’s work. The key objectives are:

  • To ensure work is completed to the highest possible standard, on time and within the agreed budget
  • To train, coach and mentor your team to ensure the very highest levels of productivity
  • To be responsible for the health and safety of your team and customers
  • You should play an active role in planning and be passionate about service improvement.
  • You should provide excellent customer service to tenants and ensure your team upholds the Genesis values.

This is an idea role for someone with some leadership experience to grow their career. It will suit someone with:

  • Excellent reactive repairs experience with a good knowledge of cyclical works
  • A demonstrable track record of team-leadership (minimum of 5 people)
  • A clear focus on operational excellence and customer service.
  • The ambition to grow your career
  • Experience of coaching, mentoring and training new staff
  • Good technical knowledge of construction
