Walsall Lifelong Learning Alliance (WLLA) is the local learning partnership for Walsall. WLLA is tasked with two specific priorities:

• To maximise the input of learning to local regeneration;
• To promote provider collaboration across the borough.

Black Country LSC, as lead agency, has given Walsall Lifelong Learning Alliance responsibility for co-ordinating the ‘Increasing Skills Levels’ Target Driven Action Plan within the Economic Development and Enterprise (EDE) Pillar of the Local Area Agreement (LAA). This is just one of a number of large scale projects WLLA co-ordinates.

The post involves responsibility for marketing and communicating all aspects of the work of WLLA and supporting the work of the strategic board in developing the vision and strategic framework of WLLA.

The main duties of the post are:
 To develop an effective marketing and communications strategy for WLLA.
 To oversee, co-ordinate and manage achievement of all agreed outputs identified within the marketing and communication strategy – presentations, newsletter, press releases, conferences, media campaigns etc.
 To advise and support WLLA in developing and delivering effective marketing and communication activities and other designated projects as required.
 Responsibility for organising the annual Walsall Lifelong Learning Awards ceremony and other events/activities.
 Management of the WLLA website to ensure it provides an up to date information and marketing resource for the learning partnership and learning and skills in general.
 To manage all staff and external consultants designated to the marketing and communication activities of WLLA.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of the local learning and skills agenda, specifically in relation to the Local Area Agreement and the four identified EDE Pillar priorities of Skills, NEETs, Worklessness and Enterprise.

We are seeking a person with the ability to demonstrate knowledge, experience and understanding of strategies for marketing and promoting lifelong learning and translating into a marketing plan.

We would expect applicants to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges facing the diverse communities in Walsall and be able to provide marketing assistance as required.

Interviews are scheduled for mid-late September.
