Salary:£2.25 per script marked (approximately 200 scripts per person) + £225 for attending all training days.

Location:Training* will be based at a school in Medway. All appointed markers must carry out their work in a suitable location. *Training Dates: 6.9.2012 and 11.9.2012

Please note, candidates will need to be a Qualified teacher and have the following experience:

  • Key Stage 2 marking experience (English work)
  • Experience of levelling Key Stage 2 work or SATS marking experience (English work)

Main Purpose Of Job

To mark the extended writing paper of the Medway Test 2012.

To undertake training by (i) familiarisation with relevant documentation, (ii) completion of pre-meeting sample marking and (iii) attendance at all standardisation/training meetings. Failure to meet these requirements will normally result in the withdrawal by Medway Council of authorisation to act as a marker.

To mark all pupils’ scripts which are allocated to them in accordance with the detailed instructions, marking schemes and scheduled dates supplied by Medway and taking account of any further instructions which may be issued by the Team Leader, Medway.

To record all marks accurately, against the correct pupil’s name, in accordance with the detailed instructions supplied by Medway Council and to carry out all quality assurance checks in accordance with training and instructions.

To total the marks on scripts, transfer paper totals to the marksheet and to calculate the overall total. The marker is required to sign a declaration what the scripts allocated to him/her have been checked in accordance with the instructions which will be provided.

To provide samples of marked pupils’ scripts for moderation as required by the Team Leader and ensure any moderated score is entered on the marksheet and correctly re-totalled.

To return all marked pupils’ scripts in accordance with the scheduled dates and return all marksheets as instructed.

To undertake all administrative tasks in accordance with instructions that will be provided.

To provide information on any aspect of the marking of pupils’ scripts as requested by the Team Leader.

Candidates must be available for Medway Test marking from Tuesday 18 Sept 2012.

If candidates are currently teaching, they will need permission from the headteacher in order to fulfil duties of this role.
