New Directions – The Learning and Employment Service for Reading provides a range of learning and employment opportunities for adults of all ages in premises across the compass points of the borough. Courses in 10 different areas are delivered during day-time and evening hours and some Saturdays through the year.

We also offer NVQ training to individuals working in schools and industry through the government’s Train to Gain scheme, which aims to raise the skills levels of people in work. We currently deliver NVQs in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, and ITQ. We hope to expand the offer in the near future to include Customer Service and Business Administration.

We are looking for someone with a passion for Languages to lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages provision. New Directions currently offers a wide variety of language courses and we are looking for someone who can develop the area further and take it to new heights. We are looking for someone with keen entrepreneurial sense who can navigate their way through course planning, quality improvement monitoring, and sound people management.

The position involves 10 hours teaching a week during term-time. The ideal candidate will hold a recognised teaching qualification and be able to teach Spanish at all levels and preferably one other foreign language.
